  • Have adequate semen. A seminogram is performed, which is used to assess fertility according to the reference values of the World Health Organization.
  • The donor must not have more than 6 children in the national territory in order to avoid consanguinity problems.

According to Law 14/2006 of May 26 on assisted human reproduction techniques, sperm donation is an altruistic decision. It must be free, but €30 to €50 are allocated for each sample. This is not an economic incentive, it is only compensation for expenses and inconvenience.

How to donate sperm? The processes are done weekly and after 3 or 5 days of abstinence. The ejaculated semen is deposited in a bottle, analyzed and stored in a semen bank.

It is normal for it to be used within the following 6 months, meanwhile, it will remain frozen with liquid nitrogen. Thanks to this procedure, the spermatozoa preserve their functions, morphological characteristics and vitality.
