Leaving aside the factors related to the medical and health, today I bring you four aspects related to the subjective that we must take into account when choosing the right person to form this maternal/paternal-filial bond.
1.- Choice of gametes:
There are several possibilities when choosing to co-parent: either using both gametes (sperm and egg), or one of them and the other through donation, or both donated gametes. Agreeing on this will allow us to move forward with the selection of comadre or copadre.
2.- Values:
It is super important to verbalize the values and priorities when raising a child. Being able to talk and clarify what they prioritize in the education of a child is essential. What kind of teaching would you like to give, what do you consider to be healthy practices, issues related to the spiritual and family values?
3.- Economic aspect.
What is the current situation in terms of economics and employment of that person we choose to co-parent, as well as what is the job projection. Obviously the arrival of a child, in addition to emotional responsibilities, also brings financial responsibilities. Contemplate in the first place that the basic needs can be covered and also those that we consider as linked to the quality of life that they wish to give that child.
4.- What will be communicated to the child:
This point is one of the most complex and the one that brings the most questions to my office: what and how will the child be communicated the way in which he was conceived. This usually presents some resistance and difficulties, as well as taboos and fears. For this reason, I always suggest consulting a specialist on this issue in order to help and guide them in this process.
In conclusion, the idea is to be able to form a team with the person who is chosen, in order to provide a harmonious and loving upbringing to that boy or girl.
